Privacy Policy

Bodhi is designed to keep core reading activity simple and private. The app may process the following categories of information:

• Local app data, such as onboarding status, saved passages, saved chapters, reading progress, notification preferences, and app settings stored on your device.
• Usage and diagnostics data, such as app opens, screen views, feature interactions, premium status, and purchase or restore events, when analytics services are enabled.
• Purchase and subscription status, such as whether a premium entitlement is active. Payment card details are not stored by Bodhi.
• Notification settings, including whether you have enabled a daily reminder. Notification permission is controlled by your device operating system.
• AI questions and chat context, if you use Bodhi AI. Your question, recent chat messages, and relevant Buddhist passage context may be sent to an AI service or proxy so a response can be generated.
• Support information, if you contact us by email or another support channel, including the information you choose to provide.

Saved passages, saved chapters, reading progress, onboarding status, and notification preferences are stored locally through device storage. Bodhi does not need an account for these core features. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app may remove locally stored information.

Bodhi may use Firebase Analytics or similar tools to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. Analytics events may include app opens, screen views, premium status, and high-level feature interactions. These analytics are intended to be aggregated and are not used by Bodhi to read your saved passages or private reflections.

Bodhi may use Firebase Remote Config or a similar service to enable, disable, or configure app features, including AI availability, model selection, and other app settings. This helps keep the app reliable without requiring an app update for every configuration change.

If you use Bodhi AI, your question, recent chat history, and selected Buddhist passage context may be sent to Google Gemini, a configured proxy service, or another AI provider used by Bodhi. Do not include highly sensitive personal, financial, medical, legal, or confidential information in AI questions.

Bodhi AI is provided for reflection, reading support, and general informational purposes. It does not replace professional medical, mental health, legal, financial, or religious guidance.

Bodhi may offer optional premium subscriptions or one-time purchases. Purchases are processed by the applicable app store, such as Apple App Store or Google Play, and may be supported by RevenueCat for subscription status and entitlement management. Bodhi does not collect or store your payment card details.

If you enable daily reminders, Bodhi may schedule local notifications on your device, such as a morning reading reminder. You can disable notifications in the app or through your device settings. Home screen widgets may access locally stored Bodhi content or preferences to display daily passages or wisdom, but widgets do not need to collect personal information from you.

Bodhi may rely on third-party services for analytics, remote configuration, AI responses, subscriptions, app-store payments, app review prompts, sharing, and links. These services may process limited information according to their own privacy policies. Examples may include Google/Firebase, Google Gemini, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google Play.

Bodhi is not currently described as an advertising-supported app. If advertising is added in the future, this Privacy Policy should be updated to explain the ad provider and any data used for ad delivery or measurement.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information only when needed to operate the app, provide third-party services described above, comply with law, prevent abuse, protect rights and safety, or complete transactions you request.

• Local saved data can be cleared through the app where available, by clearing app storage, or by uninstalling the app.
• Notification permissions can be changed in system settings.
• Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID, Google Play account, or the applicable app-store settings.

Bodhi is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through support or another feature, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information associated with the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-party services used by Bodhi may process information in countries other than your own. By using the app, you understand that information may be processed where those service providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Bodhi after changes means you accept the updated policy.
